U K M Farhana Sultana
A seasoned development professional with over 16 years of experience in social welfare, project management, advocacy, and community development in Bangladesh. She has been serving as Project Manager at Action for Social Development since 2014, leading projects focused on education, child protection, and social protection for vulnerable children under the RESH Project funded by Bread for the World. Her expertise includes project proposal development, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, staff supervision, networking, advocacy, and strategic communication.
Farhana previously worked with the BADAS-ORBIS Eye Care Project as a Project Officer, where she managed administration, procurement, reporting, and stakeholder coordination. She also founded and led PROTIBESHI, a research-based organization, conducting studies on education, acid violence, and urban development issues.
Academically, she holds BSS (Honors) and MSS degrees in Sociology from University of Rajshahi and is currently pursuing an MPhil at University of Dhaka focusing on gender inequality in eye care services in Northwestern Bangladesh.
Her professional strengths include proposal and report writing, budgeting, content development, communication strategy, public presentation, and digital communication tools. She has also received specialized training in conflict sensitivity, project monitoring and evaluation, psychosocial counseling, and practical project management.
Beyond her professional career, Farhana has contributed as a radio jockey, talk-show presenter, and guest speaker on child rights and social issues. Her passion for social justice, gender equality, and community empowerment continues to drive her commitment to inclusive and sustainable development initiatives across Bangladesh.
